Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo actually died when their stage collapsed during their show - all FiM episodes after that all happen in the head of a crazy Applejack, who after the accident killed Cheerilee and Twilight Sparkle, and went into a coma after a showdown with the Equestrian Guard.

sweetie belle became mute due to one of her sister’s outbursts
apple bloom became a construction worker and is in heavy debt
scootaloo had her wings amputated due to an unfortunate incident
