Some random suggestions for your stories:
Don’t submit it to us when YOU think it’s done - ask some people to read and give their opinion on what you wrote, and try to improve it. Peer review can be the difference!
Good spelling and punctuation. A readable story based on a terrible idea is still better than a horribly-written story that uses the best idea ever.
